South Alabama running back Braylon McReynolds plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he announced Sunday. The move comes a day after the Jaguars ended their season at 7-6 with a 30-23 victory over Western Michigan in the Salute to Veterans Bowl in Montgomery.

Only a day after a prominent Alabama Crimson Tide offensive player entered the NCAA transfer portal, a notable name on defense has now done the same, as safety DeVonta Smith announced his intentions Saturday afternoon.

But linebacker Darrell Johnson, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound four-star out of Eastman, Georgia, said he's talked with Crimson Tide defensive back coaches before his arrival. While he said he plans to arrive as a future Mike linebacker, Johnson said his positionless versatility is what helped him catch the eye of Alabama.

Alabama football running back Justice Haynes is entering the transfer portal, a source with knowledge of the situation told AL.com. Alabama had three players enter the transfer portal Dec. 9 when it opened, the first of which was tight end Danny Lewis Jr.. A three-star prospect from the 2022 class, Lewis had one reception for five yards across his three years in Tuscaloosa, as well as returned a kickoff for 14 yards.

In his first season with the team, Mike Elko fell one game short of bringing Texas A&M to its first SEC Championship Game berth. Already preparing to build on his success, Elko added a significant piece to his defense on Sunday.
