Moore says liquor being sold in grocery stores puts the consumer first but small business owners in Maryland feel it will shut them down.

Gov. Wes Moore signaled support Wednesday for 2025 legislation that would allow Maryland grocery stores to sell beer and wine.

Lawmakers have kicked around the idea for years, allowing the sale of beer and wine in grocery stores. Maryland is one of three states that bans those sales, and one of 10 states that bans the sale of wine in grocery stores. Gov. Moore said he believes Marylanders want that to change.
