JAGDALPUR: Pinki, who joined CPI (Maoist) as a child in Bijapur, starting with its 'Bal Sangathan' or child wing, and went on to work with some senior functionaries, joined the district reserve group (DRG) of Chhattisgarh Police after her surrender in 2009.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Naxals should join the mainstream, move ahead on the path of development and also contribute to the development of Chhattisgarh.

"I am the happiest person today, more than you or your family, as our painstaking efforts to convince you to surrender and join the mainstream has bore fruit," Union Home Minister Amit Shah told a group of former Naxals on Sunday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged Naxals in Chhattisgarh to surrender and embrace mainstream life, promising rehabilitation support. He warned of strong action by security forces if they refuse, aiming for a Naxal-free India by 2026.

Amit Shah praised the Chhattisgarh Police for its "hard work, dedication, bravery and affection towards the people."

Chhattisgarh police, in collaboration with national security forces, have made significant progress against Naxalism, neutralizing 287 insurgents, arresting 1,000, and facilitating 837 surrenders. These efforts mark a critical step toward ending the menace.
