Apple is getting ready to replace the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips in its products, currently supplied by Broadcom, with a chip of its own design. According to a new report from Bloomberg, the company has been hard at work on this project for several years and should start rolling out the chips in products beginning in 2025.

Apple plans to phase out the technology that currently powers its Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections in favor of an in-house chip, further reducing its dependency on third-party providers, says a Thursday report.

Apple is planning on another big project for its users. Apple seems to bet big on bringing its own chip for supporting Wi-Fi and bluetooth. According to Reuters, the Cupertino tech giant aims to replace some of its parts currently provided by Broadcom.

The chip, code-named Proxima, has been in development for several years and is now slated to go into the first products in 2025.
