Friday afternoon in the NHL saw a trio of moves on the waiver wire. Beginning in Long Island, the New York Islanders placed 28-year-old left winger Pierre Engvall on waivers.

Following their 5-4 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday, the New York Islanders placed forwards Pierre Engvall and Oliver Wahlstrom on waivers on Friday. The moves clear $2.15 million in cap space for the team. With Engvall's cap hit buried, $1.85 million will remain on the salary cap, while Wahlstrom's $1 million will be cleared.
