CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns are giving Deshaun Watson a chance to come back and compete for the starting job in 2025, and it’s not just about the money. The money is certainly a big part of it, given that the Browns would trigger a $119 million cap charge in 2025 if they designate him a post-June 1 cut or trade.

The 3-10 Browns reportedly plan to run it back next year, including a return for injured quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson, who is out for the season with an Achilles injury, is expected back, as are head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry,

The injured quarterback’s contract means he probably will be back in Cleveland next season. But that doesn’t mean the Browns have to play him.
