The Franklin, Wisconsin native elected to remain with the program entering 2023 after the firing of Paul Chryst and the subsequent hire of Luke Fickell. He entered the season far down the quarterback depth chart, however, after offseason additions of Tanner Mordecai, Nick Evers and Braedyn Locke.

Wisconsin football has made its first addition via the transfer portal, as former Louisville edge rusher Mason Reiger announced his commitment to UW. Reiger chose Wisconsin after fielding interest from Indiana, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, and Wake Forest, among others. He will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Badgers.

The move is the latest shakeup to Wisconsin’s quarterback room and comes two days after Van Dyke opted to leave the program for the transfer portal. Van Dyke has one year of eligibility remaining, and there were no guarantees he would be healthy enough for the Badgers next season after coming off an ACL tear in his right knee against Alabama.

Wisconsin wide receiver Trech Kekahuna is exiting the transfer portal and returning to the Badgers, according to his recent Instagram post. The sophomore receiver announced his intention to enter the portal last week after the Badgers’ season-closing loss to Minnesota.
