An apparent tornado touched down in a small Northern California city Saturday, flipping cars, causing significant damage and sending several people to the hospital.

Wind speeds had gusted over 80 mph in parts of the Santa Cruz mountains early Saturday morning. Wind gusts even reached 78 mph in Monterey, proving that this was a very powerful wind event.
