Pakistan’s premier batter Babar Azam has etched his name into the history books yet again during Pakistan's second T20I against South Africa.

Pakistan batter Babar Azam might have failed to get going in the second T20I of the three-match series against South Africa, but he did manage to make a remarkable T20 record his own. During his 20-ball 31, Babar surpassed ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle to become the fastest player to go past 11,000 T20 runs.

Babar Azam shattered Chris Gayle's long-standing world record during the second T20I between South Africa and Pakistan at SuperSport Park, Centurion. Batting at number three, Babar scored 31 runs off 20 balls after Saim Ayub opened with Mohammad Rizwan.

Babar Azam bagged a duck in the first T20I against South Africa, however, he was looking in good touch in the second against the Proteas. Babar has shattered a world record which earlier belonged to Chris Gayle during the Centurion T20I.

Babar Azam became the fastest to reach the landmark of 11000 runs in T20s, breaking Chris Gayle's record. He also reached the landmark of 14000 runs in international cricket.

Babar Azam, who has scored 11 tons and 90 fifties in the shortest format of the game, is the only player to achieve this milestone in less than 300 innings.

Babar Azam scored 31 runs from 20 balls for Pakistan against South Africa on Friday, and during the process he also completed 11,000 runs in T20 cricket.
